Simple, Grateful, Week-end

We had a simple Thanksgiving. So much to be grateful for.
Thursday morning we met Katie and her boyfriend Brock for breakfast at a cute little diner.
It was yummy. Then Greg and I had a nice, juicy, roasted chicken, stuffing, gravy and peas and carrots. Greg baked a nice pumpkin pie, (with a little help from Marie Calendar). It made our apartment smell so good. -Perfect-
Friday we made really good green chile chicken enchiladas out of the leftovers.
I have so much to be thankful for.
Thought for Today - (This is out of Dad's Calendar Book)
So once in every year we throng Upon a day apart,
To praise the Lord with feast and song
In thankfulness of heart.
-Arthur Guiterman, The First Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow. -edward sandford martin

Snow Day

Well , here we are back in snow country. Saturday we took a drive up to
BRIGHTON SKI RESORT, to have lunch where Katie works. We had a yummy burger, visited with Katie, and watch the skiers and snowboards come down the mountain.
-Nice Day-
-Happy-happy!-

American Music Awards- Rated R, almost X

Boy was I disappointed with most of the female entertainers on the AMA awards last night.
I love music. If you listen to my iPod I have just about everyone of those entertainers in my music collection. Taylor Swift and Janet Jackson get a thumbs up from me. She sang and danced and performed without being 'raunchy'. Kelly Clarkson, Alisha Keys and Mary J Blige also performed well.
I was happy to see Whitney back on stage. Looking good, and recovering from her abuse.
My disappointment was with how most of the other FeMale performers have lowered themselves to become 'burlesque', and vulgar. I have nothing against being sexy. But, c'mon - lady gaga??
that's no lady. close your legs, your embarrassing. And Rihanna? what? That's how you make a
"comeback", from getting slapped around? Even Carrie Underwood and her dancers put on a Burlesque Show. All these girls are very talented, and beautiful. Obviously Sex still sells.
And of course Adam Lambert.---great voice, I think he was performing in Sodom and Gomorrah, "For your Entertainment."
Signs of the Times. SAD.

A Simple Day by Fion Lim

To wake up in the morning, knowing you're still alive,
To know you have a choice each day, starting afresh,
To find joy in everyday, acknowledging simple pleasures,
To live in the present moment, engaging your awareness,
To count the blessings in life, believing abundance abounds,
To enjoy the work you do, following your passion,
To make a little difference, adding to the universe,
To be what you are, listening to your inner being,
To give away love, rejoicing in the chance to give,
To receive love with gratitude, feeling good about it,
To smile at strangers, seeing how infectious it can be,
To speak words of kindness, spreading a little warmth,
To understand with compassion, opening up your mind,
To play with children, nurturing your inner child,
To appreciate the nature, soaking up all the beauty,
To feel the warmth of the sun, glowing upon your skin,
To listen to the falling rain, pattering on the grounds
To taste the richness of food, sliding down your throat,
To smell the freshness of air, filling up your lungs,
To see the falling night, concluding a well-lived day,
That's life, that's living,
That's the core of what really matters...
And if I've missed out anything,
Please let love make up for all of it.

One of my little 'Beauty Queens' had a Birthday on the 17th.
Anna is the cutest, little girl. She is always so happy and enthusiastic about life.
She is fun loving and upbeat. She is so fun to talk to and play 'pretend' with.
She has such a creative imagination. I love this little girl so much.
HAPPY BIRTDAY ANNA LEE!

Girlfriends

Well, we left California. - We found out on Thursday we were coming back to SLC, packed our suitcase, packed the cat and dog, and hit the road on Friday.
We got to stop in Carson City, Nevada to see my girlfriend, Hannah. It was so good to see each other. I miss her. She has been such a good friend. We have really been there for each other. Everyone needs a girlfriend. I wish we lived closer.

Cherilyn Eagar for U.S Senate & Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin and Cherilyn Eagar.
These are two women who I like. They are speaking up for things I agree with. They are trying to stand up and speak out! They are hard working, honest women. I will continue to lend my support in whatever 'small' way I can.
Examples of 'small' ways- 1. post positive information about them on my blog or facebook.
2. donate time to their campaign or just ATTEND a gathering, to
show support.
3. put a sign up with their name on it, in my lawn or car.
4. buy a t-shirt, book, button, etc.
5. SMALL ACTS OF DOING SOMETHING for a cause is better than doing nothing. SMALL ACTIONS, by a lot of people, add up to HUGE Accomplishments.
AMERICA is what it is today, because of the SMALL, and great actions of many people.
P.S. Sarah Palin will be in Salt Lake City, Ut promoting her book Dec. 9th 2009 and
Cherilyn Eagar- who is running for U.S. Senate just had a busy week.
November 16th she was on Larry King Live, November 17th-21st she will be at various locations throughout Utah with 'Joe the Plumber'.

Monday FUN

So, I guess it's the 40th Anniversary of
SESAME STREET.
I always liked Sesame Street. It was on a lot when I was raising my kids. I always liked the Comedy Duo of Bert and Ernie.
I also liked "The Count". He was fun.
Jim Hensen was a creative, good teacher. My grand kids watch other learning shows now. But, I still like Sesame Street the best.
Whose your favorite character from Sesame Street???

anxiety

Anxiety- When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
Psalm 94:19

We all have anxiety in our lives. What do you do when you have anxiety?

VOTE- NOVEMBER 3rd. Stand up, speak up, fight back!

VOTE-

Brad, Edie, and Humphrey

In 1985 a humpback whale, named
"Humphrey" got a little off course while swimming from Alaska to Mexico. For some reason he made a wrong turn, and started swimming up the delta of the Sacramento River. It was one of the most publicized whale rescues covered. Why am I telling you this? Because....
This is where Brad, Edie, Greg, and I all had brunch at yesterday, here in California, at 'Humphrey's' restaurant. It was a beautiful day. The restaurant is right on the delta. I saw sailboats, a ship, and tug boat, a remote control sailboat, and fisherman, fishing for sturgeon and striped bass, (but no whale today, anyway.)
Oh- and the best part was I ate great food and got some time to
hang out with my cousin Brad!
It was a Happy Day!
