MEMORIES ON MEMORIAL DAY

This Memorial Week-end As I was thinking about our servicemen that have sacrificed a great deal for me. I started thinking about my grandparents who sacrificed a lot for their family and have had such a big influence in my life. I couldn't have pick better grandparents. All 4 of my grandparents are special to me. This is my "Grandpa Lax". Born-Sept. 12, 1902. Died-MAY 23, 1990. This man was one of the kindest men I've ever met. I never heard him raise his voice, cuss, or holler, at anyone. He spoke quietly, and was very intelligent. I remember how he would laugh at Grandma's stories. I remember him cutting up watermelon, and caring for his horses and other animals, around "Laxcone Ranch". I miss the peppermints he always had in his pockets. I miss his whistle as he went about his chores. I miss him--I remember though, I remember, I Was LOVED.

Grandpa Joe was just one of those natural gentlemen. It was what he was not what he was trying to become. He was always so kind to us great grandkids too.

Grandpa Joe loved all his Grandkids and great grandkids! And was not only kind to us but was very interested in their future. I remember too, how good he was with Grandma. He always had those peppermints in his pockets that he would share with the kids, for some of us the peppermint was too strong but we always said yes if he asked if we wanted candy because sometimes he had butterscotch candy, Yummm. He built two houses that I am aware of, always with lots of light coming in. This picture is really a classic, precious memory. I'm sure he was very proud of you Sandy. He always wanted us to be nurses. That's why I took Latin in high school .

Grandpa Joe was always a gentleman. A man of integrity. A Southern gentleman
When I grow up I want to be just like him.

Every one that knew Grandpa Joe loves him, including me. He was kind to all, wise, honest, loved the Lord and God and loved every member of his family. My children are so blessed to have him as their Grandpa along with their other grandparents.
