I like this bug. I don't know why exactly, I just do. "THE PRAYING MANTIS". They kinda look prehistoric. I can remember catching them as a kid and putting them in a jar, and feeding them ants. Then when I lived in Prescott, at a certain time of year they would be all over. I had like 5 or 6 of them at a time living in my little hippie house. I liked them. I never put them outside. Probably because someone had told me that they eat other bugs. So I let them stay in. Some gardners actually order them from somewhere to put them in their gardens. They are fun to watch. Some larger ones have been known to prey on small lizards, frogs, birds, and snakes. I've never seen one That big. They have great camouflage abilities. The can turn their head 300 degrees, and have great vision. Mantises can bite, but they have no venom, and aren't dangerous to humans. They never bit me.

Yes, we love these bugs! Mostly because they do eat harmful bugs in the garden, but also because of the way they look. I especially like their diamond shaped face, with the big eyes. We never harm them and they actually seem to be freindly!
YOU know they eat there mate.
bite the head and then devour it.
SORRY, JUST ME AND TRIVIAL INFORMATION
i like them because the eyes turn red when you mess with them to much.
I HAVE A PIC OF ONE DANCING
I am always happy to see a praying mantis in my yard. She does eat bugs that eat my plants. I try to protect her.
Maybe one did bite you but you just thought it was a little Mantis kiss!
