geese all over the golf course. Well this spring, this little gosling hatched and hangs out on the 9th hole with her mom and pop. We see them every time we go so I started taking pictures of her as she grows. Mamma and dad won't let me get too close. They start "hissing" at me. I will be posting pictures on my sidebar of her as she grows. Here's just a few facts about her.
Normally the female lays 5-7 eggs but this couple only has one survivor. Lucy.
Canadian geese mate for life. They raise their goslings together. The male guards the nest.
When they first hatch they look like fuzzy little yellow ducks.
They are able to swim immediately. When Lucy was first walking around the golf course she would walk about 10-15 feet and then she would sit down and rest, and then get back up. It was so cute watching her mom, dad, AND golfers patiently wait for her to get on her way.
They take about 9 weeks to get their flight feathers.
Anyway watch my sidebar and watch her grow.

happy birthday!
Happy bday to my aunt!!
I am so looking forward to watching "Lucy" grow! Thank you soooo much for sharing this! It's so nice that every one waits for her to get out of the way before they swing their golf clubs! I didn't realize geese mated for life, just like swans.
Love the jump rope picture of the girls. Remember when we used to do that?
I will be watching Lucy grow with you. We had a couple of geese stop by one of our ponds last week.
I guess that is their Motel stop on their way to Utah. No babies.
