Bearly Fishin'
Brady Fairbanks of Draper, Utah created this 6-foot-tall bronze sculpture showing the bond of a mother and cub black bear. The sculpture is bronze, except for the concrete boulder on which the mother bear stands. Bearly Fishin' was was selected for purchase by Mesa's Permanent Sculpture Panel.
I like Mamma bears. I remember that picture that Mr. Wilmot painted that used to hang in our house. I remember liking the colors. It seems like I heard a story about it. That there was a cub in the picture, but then he painted a tree a something over it. I can't quite remember the details. But I did like that painting. Maybe mom, dad, or Sandy Wilmot can help me with my memory.

All along downtown Main Street in Mesa, Arizona is all different kinds of Scuptures by different artist. Most of them are "life size". For something FREE to do, you could take a walk down Main Street for some 'Culture Refinement." The information about the scuptures and the artist are on the internet.
I used to "DRAG MAIN", in DOROVASASH on Friday night and there were'nt any statues back then. Just cute boys and girls looking for a party.
Was Dorovasash the truck that was eventually painted yellow with a paint brush?
The picture you are referring to, had very beautiful colors! And the little bear cub was sooo cute! However, there was an eagle in the picture that was swooping down on the little cub. As little girls we strongly objected to this eagle. I believe either Dad or Mr. Wilmot explained to us that the mother bear was behind the bush and the cub would be alright. So then we excepted the picture and enjoyed it. (I think it was the mother bear that was painted over.)
When I used to drag main in Dorovasash, I too was on the look out for cute boys and my girlfriends, (but mostly just boys) I haven't been downtown Mesa in probably 30 years, guess I better check it out!!!
Yes, Vineyard, that would be Dorovasash, painted yellow with a brush, When I drove it I had to hold the gear shift down so it would stay in gear and not pop out! Can you believe your mother and I actually fought over who could drive it? Of course it wasn't yellow then.
If anyone ever loved a vehicle it was our family. We all Loved Dorovasash the name we gave our 1964 Chevy truck. It took us over a lot of traveled miles. It was our Covered wagon that brought us from Indiana to Arizona to live. Actually it was an overcab RV. After we got to AZ we drove it to a lot of AZ campgrounds. When the two oldest daughters were old enough to drive they did get to drive it. By that time Dad decided to paint the dark green color bright yellow. Why he did that I don't remember. Fun memories. When Mesa put up the statues along main street, some of us family members did spend a family home eve
one night walking the blocks and viewing them . I think we ended out night with a treat from a sub sandwich shop. I don't remember the bear and cub. I'll have to look for that one.
I did not remember you Seashells, being old enough to drive that truck before it got too old to drive (safely).
