Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe

We got to make a quick 5 minute stop, and get a picture of the Beautiful Lake Tahoe.
This is on the California side overlooking Emerald Bay. If you look closely, on the top of that island, there is a stone house. A rich, eccentric woman had it built in the 1800's for her "tea parties". Its only 16ft by 16ft. Rich silver miners from Virginia City, Nevada, and Rich gold miners, from California, would come and vacation on the beautiful Lake Tahoe. Before the mining rush. It was inhabited by Washoe Indians. The area provided plenty of fishing, hunting, wild berries, seeds, furs, wood, etc. A beautiful place to live. (cold in the winter though, but they new how to survive.)

I would like to visit Lake Tahoe. Thanks for sharing the history of Lake Tahoe. Your post will probably be the closes I'll ever get to the Lake. I don't like that California traffic, either..

That is beautiful! Southern Californians love to go to Lake Tahoe! I have not been there yet! How interesting to learn about places, I would love to see that little house up close and learn more about the Indians that use to live there.
