I like Norman Rockwell too. My mom used to have a picture of three girls in our bathroom. I think two of them were looking at one of the girl's missing tooth or something.
It is the capture of emotions, in the common people, doing ordinary things, that is Norman Rockwell's talent. I would like to meet this artist one day, because he must be able to put himself in another's shoes. How else, would he be able to capture all the expressions that he paints?
Norman Rockwell is my favorite artist for all the reason you have stated above. When I was growing up his work was displayed in many magazines. He used his talent for good.

i used to look through moms huge coffee table norman rockwell book. was always amazed at his detail and talent.
