Salvation Army a wonderful organization to support

The Salvation Army is an International movement. It is a evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. It's message is based on the bible. It's ministry is motivated by the love of God. it's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name, without discrimination. Reasons that I donate to Salvation Army. They have many outreach programs for those in need. One thing along with disaster relief, Christmas charity, kids camp, and what caught my attention now, is Prisoner Rehabilitation. (They also have a truck that comes right to your door to take away your stuff.)

Through cooperative arrangements with prison, probation, and parole officials throughout the country, The Salvation Army plays a growing role in prison rehabilitation and crime prevention. In some jurisdictions, prisoners are paroled to the direct custody of The Salvation Army. Services include Bible correspondence courses, pre-release job-training programs, employment opportunities in cooperation with parole personnel, material aid, and spiritual guidance to both prisoners and their families.

Community-based rehabilitation centers are the trend in the field of corrections. Many Salvation Army rehabilitation centers and Harbor Light Centers have served as designated halfway houses where former prisoners can participate in work-release programs. Those convicted of minor offenses often are given the opportunity to accept placement in community service programs at corps community centers and institutions as an alternative to incarceration, or in the last months of their sentences.

In addition, Salvation Army officers and volunteers lead worship services in jails and prisons. A national Salvation Army Correctional Services Sunday is observed. Counseling and emergency assistance also are available to crime victims.

I knew meals were supplied for homeless and gifts and food were provided on Christmas but was not aware of Salvation Army doing so many things. There are great needs for a lot of people and we can help serve on our own, in church groups and other charity groups. (Having said this, we family readers are doing things others do not know--but we can do more). Yes, there is something we can do for prisoners too. This is said with love by
