1st week in December at Brandi's house.

This last week I've been having fun listening and observing how family traditions start out.
Lexi and Anna have been filling me in on all the things they do during this time of year.  For example they remembered, without hesitation, that it was Anna's turn to put the Star * ON TOP of the Tree.
They also showed me a special gift box under the tree where they write down a gift for Jesus.  (ie; service, obeying commandments, ways to honor him, etc.)    It was fun listening to them tell me all about how their mom "MAKES THE BEST" Lasagna for Christmas Eve.   (I had to snicker, and wink at Brandi)   I said, "I don't know about that?  My mom makes the best lasagna".  Well they insisted that their mom does.  And that's the way it should be.
I also noted the stockings.  Matt & Brandi both have their original childhood stockings.   Matt's was hand knitted by his 'MeMe'  and Brandi's still has the original  MASKING TAPE,  name tag that I put on it, back in 1980.   (See how CREATIVE-cheap  I was back then?)
So that, My friend  is how FAMILY TRADITIONS GET STARTED.

Things I saw on my walk this week.  The lake was like glass.
                            Notice the reflection.
My first college basketball game.  It was FUN.  Tar-heels  won!
And then,  Late last night (midnight)  Brandi and I made homemade cinnamon rolls for a friend who's father just died.
It was worth staying up till 2:30am to be able to show love and concern for others.  (and they made the house smelled good, and we all enjoyed them also.

such a fun time of fun family traditions and service and togetherness. Brandi and Matt are doing such a wonderful job with their little family! Great examples. I'm sure they love having yo there to join in.

Love the stockings and I won't tell Grandma that Brandi's lasagna is the best.

College basketball has got to be my all time favorite live sporting event.

And I'm with Sheila, they are doing a great job with their kids.
