Remember when...?

Maybe it's the hot weather outside.  I was just thinking about ways to cool off, and a childhood memory popped up in my head. I REMEMBER playing in the sprinkler. You know, those fan type ones, or the circle kind.  We used to jump over and through them, and put the circle one on our head, like a crown and make the water go up in down.
I also remember looking forward to playing in some of friends yards and on the school playground when the irrigation would come in. We would find pieces of plywood and make skid boards out of them and run and slide across the yard. Sometimes small fish would even come through the pipes and we thought that was so cool.
               Those were the days!

When I was 6, I would run down paths in the woods, much like the woods you are enjoying there in N. Carolina. I would find blueberries in the middle of a wild rose briar and get all scratched up.

We Would run down a path that ended on top of the Dunes and jump as far as we could into the sand, it felt like flying....

Sometimes, I would go down to a pond, with water lilies and lots of frogs and tadpoles, dragonflies and in the evening lighting bugs, it was fun... many wildflowers were everywhere and white oak trees to climb up high.

All kids should be able to live and appreciate the outdoors like that!

I liked swimming, going to the river, and family vacations.

What do I miss about being six? The carefree freedom of discovering the world around me.
