Just for fun, tell me the your first impression you have when you initially see these pictures.
What is your feeling, perception, thoughts about the people that live there. Do you feel sorry for them? Do you think they are poor? Do you feel pity? What's your impression? Just curious. I'm studying people. Sociology, psychology, people and perception. (now continue to scroll down and answer the same questions.) just for fun, just for helping me learn.

My first impression was, this is from back east, the trees are very nice and big. So, this is an older neighborhood. Perhaps, the families have lived here for generations. Are they poor? That really is a relative term isn't it? After all they have a roof over their heads, cars to drive. All though they may not have enough money for maintaining their homes. Why not? Could be illness, or disability, or maybe they don't manage their money right. Do I feel pity? Yes, there are reasons to feel pity. However, you will probably find some humble people here. Imagine a family from another country trying to make a better life for themselves. It would be good to learn about their customs. A way to broaden our horizons with out leaving the country. On the negative side, which I have to address. There may be drunkards or drug abusers, or abused ones with out hope for a future. You really don't know until you knock on the door.
I recognized the house immediately.
The occupants are great people.
My first impression was home of college students who are working their way through school. All they need are basics like a dry roof over their heads water, electricity and heat in the winter. Though the building is old it is clean and liveable. This really reminds me of the old houses that we lived in when hubby was in college. Also it reminds me of the apartment I was raised in on a busy street. 4 small rooms and one bath room behind a shoe repair shop. Some people that lived in houses may have thought that we were poor, but I personally never thought so. It is not where you live but how you live. I do feel pity for those who are forced from their homes & have no place to call home. If they are doing all they can to maintain a home and can't--they need our help.
My first impression is what a cute alley, I like the trees and the look of the bricks vs the concrete. My impression of the people is that they are simple. No need for excessive living. They have what they need and thats enough. Like Ronna said about the poor question, its hard to say. The neighborhood is older but they could be just fine, financially. I don't really feel pity but again I'm only looking at the photo perhaps if I were up close and personal I may think something else, probably not though. The place is pretty clean, theres a fruit tree outside which always gives me a good feeling. The building is cracked but so was my house growing up, I never thought we were poor, I never really wanted much more (maybe a cuter house, but our house had potential my dad was just we'll say "unconcerned") Overall though, I think the place has a strange charm but again it just makes me think the people are simple and are okay with things. Like grandma said you just have to knock on the door. Every door could have a different story, some happy and some sad.
This was my first impression when we pulled in this alley Aug. 2007 at around 11:30 pm. We had driven all day from AZ. I was hot, tired, excited, lost, scared, but ready for a new adventure. I thought, ok, I can stay here for a month or so, until I find a "better" place to live. This was just a temporary situation. Well, it's old, it's downtown, I know- no one, I have no idea how to get anywhere. Even if I look up the address in the phone book-the streets do not run in the right direction. If the Street says South 100 street, Your actually going east or west. Very confusing! The reality is- it's just Different, than anywhere I've ever lived. If I stand in my front yard this is what I see. (East) The University of Utah is just down the way,(West) the morman temple is a few blocks down, (South) the skyscrapers of downtown, and (North)the mountains. I am surrounded by beauty and new things. It all depends on my attitude and what I want to see. I see young energic college students. I see business people in white shirts and ties. I see homeless and panhandlers. I see little old ladies watering their beautiful yards. I see young couples walking their dog and pushing their new baby in the stroller.
I SEE LIFE. MY LIFE- THE WAY IT IS TODAY!
I SEE GOD'S MERCY AND LOVE.
thank you for participating in my survey. Thank you guys.
The first picture I thought it looked like a cute little alleyway between two cute old little houses. The second one at first glance reminded me of the Mission home in Scotland. Needed some work, but nice inside.
