Utah has some of the most RIDICULOUS, STUPID, IGNORANT liquor laws that I, (and thousands of others)
have ever heard of. The state GOVERNMENT is fixated on people that drink alcohol. This has nothing to do with drinking and driving or underage drinking. These ridiculous laws have to do with more government, invading and REGULATING, responsible, hard working, law abiding citizens.
Here is some examples of just a few of Utah's NO COMMON SENSE LAWS. The only beer you can buy in the grocery store or convenience store is 3.2% beer. If you want a real beer, like the rest of the country serves, you have to buy an import at the STATE liquor store. It will cost you approx. $10++ for a 6-pack. You can not buy wine coolers, wine or other liquor except at a "State Liquor' store. Rational???__ If you go to a restaurant like Hard Rock Cafe, you can't order a beer unless you have a "membership". WHAT? So you have to pay $5 for a membership card good for 2 weeks and then you can have a $4 beer. Ok, this New law, that is going before the legislature takes the cake for STUPID!
Utah Congressman John Valentine, aka-'FOOL', wants to pass a law that restaurants like TGIF etc. have to build a wall to hide the alcohol behind it so that children won't see them making or pouring drinks. Is he mentally retarded? This is what you pay this congressman to do? Is this kind of issue his priority with everything else that is going on in the world?
Many of you are saying, well this doesn't have any affect on me. I don't even drink. WRONG!Businesses, Restaurants, bowling Allys, ski resorts etc., are already hurting due to the economy. Tourism is down. Business owners are already hurting, and this Congressman Valentine wants them to remodel their buildings at the price of $20,000+ so you "can't see" them mix a drink?? What bubble, or planet does he live in?
Even if you never have alcohol touch your lips, you should be appalled at Utah's Government wasting time, money and energy on such BULLSHIT. Either you can have a drink in Utah, or you can't!! Cut the Crap Utah.
Or bring back Prohibition. Yea that will work. NOT!! Sinners and criminals everywhere.
"Guns don't kill people-people, kill people".
"Alcohol doesn't ruin lifes, people ruin lifes."
There- I feel better now. Nobody really reads my RANTS, but I like to stand up against government in my life. Government Idiots!
(you can google any of this info and more ridiculous laws.)
Signed, Sandy "the sinner" ("don't let the children see." ) haha --

The great thing about the US is that people have a vote. Utah voted for those laws. Another great thing is that people can move if you don't like it, or better yet, can pass new laws to overturn it. And if businesses are hurting, then they can go into another line of business. Plus, alcohol does hurt people. It is a harmful, addictive drug, and it causes lewd, crude, and sexually deviant behaviors in otherwise reasonable people. Now that's a fact, Jack!
Plus, in this economy, who the heck can afford to go out and drink anyways? If you want to light some money on fire, instead of drinking it up, my kids have an account going toward their college and missions. You can just send the money to them instead.
And one more thing, Jesus did not practice the art of getting drunk, so I really would treat that comparison with delicate hands.
Just my thoughts, and I mean no malice in it. Just my overbearing personality coming through. I still love you, sweetie!

Looks like Dan beat me to it. Isn't he supposed to be working?!
Please don't miss the point. It's not really about the Alcohol, it's about the Government. Keep the rules simple. Compare it to gun laws. Simplify.
I can see it both ways. I mean government does and should have some sort of role to regulate those in the world who have no common sense or judgement.
Unfortunately there are plenty of people with no ability to soundly judge so we all get stuck with annoying laws.
I have to say, I think it is far worse what Obama is doing than the Utah liquor laws. He wants his hand in EVERYTHING!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with me. I'm interested in others opinions and perceptions.
opinion, well they are each persons thoughts, mine are , i try, to make mine in line with Bible principles.
men are crazy with power, bible principle are the way to live...what are they?
in Gen: 9;20-24 talks abut Noah be
ing intoxicated, this was from wine, this shows that alcohol has been used for ages, there might be some differences in making,
(Dakota has told me this with working in the wine industry)
but the intoxication effect is the same as in ages before have been.
Overindulgence is a disregard for Bible principle, moderation in ALL THINGS is a bible principle.
SO MAN MAKES A LAW.. PUT A WALL UP...
We follow Caesar's law till it conflicts with JEHOVAH'S LAW.
If , like Dan says, you don't like the laws of the area ,...MOVE.. Some can't, we need to deal with what the law of the land is.
HOPE THIS HELPS.
