HOPE
My Sunday devotional today is from "Our book club".
"When I lay my Issac down." 'Hope's power is that we have the energy and desire to go on living because we believe something better is coming.'
'The apostle Paul likened HOPE to a helmet, vital for protection. 1 Thess 5:8- "but as for us who belong to the day, let us keep our senses and have on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet the hope of salvation." How is hope like a helmet? The helmet shielded the head from flying arrows, swinging clubs, and slashing swords of warfare. Wearing the helmet did not mean that the soldier was invincible or that he felt nothing when his head was struck, the helmet simply ensured that most of the blows glanced off, instead of doing damage. As the helmet protects the head, so HOPE protects the mind. Hope may not enable us to shrug off each crisis, or setback as if it were nothing. But hope cushions such blows and helps us make sure that they will not prove fatal to our mental, emotional, or spiritual health. ...Yes, we can look to the source of true hope, Jehovah God our Father, who is able to fulfill all his promises and hopes of those trusting in him, through the ransom sacrifice of his son, Jesus Christ. -ronna-
... 'When we finally understand that we are in a spiritual battle, that the world is not our home, just a 'stopping off' place, we can begin to get excited about having a short time to engage in the battle raging around us.' .... -sheila-
..'At this time, there are some things I don't know. We may not get all the answers on this side of the veil; however, eventually we will get the answers. I do gain comfort from the writings of others. Keep the faith, endure to the end. Life goes on. -dad-
'When I am focused on the Savior and remember he is my partner through this life I remember all things are possible.' -brandi-
Thank you for all your encouraging words, love, and support.
